ELKHART LAKE, Wisconsin — Alexander Ross won his first pole in three years and began Sunday to lead the green flag at Road America, an effort to lead the NTT IndyCar Series winless streak that dates back almost so long.
Rossi will start for the first time in Sonsio Grand Prix in the 14-turn, 4,048.-mile road course where the last IndyCar Series win 44 races ago on 23 June 2019 was hacked.
“It’s pretty crazy to just think he has been so long,” said Rossi.

Rossi converted 1 minute, 44.8656 seconds into Saturday’s qualifying lap, sending Andretti Autosport driver first on the pole with Belle Isle in 2019, just three weeks before his final win.
“It’s been a long time since we have been in this situation,” said Rossi. “It’s amazing. It’s cool. We enjoy it, but we have a job to do.
The American became the eighth pole winner in eight sessions, the largest parity since 1961 for the IndyCar. At that time there were nine different pole winners.
Josef Newgarden of Team Penske qualified as well as Chip Ganassi Racing teammates Alex Palou, the reigning series champion, and Marco Ericsson, Indianapolis 500 winner.
Colton Herta of Andretti will start fifth best but will start 11th because he received a six-point penalty for making the Indianapolis 500. Pato O’Ward of Arrow will start in fifth place and Romain Grosjean de Andretti will start. the sixth.
IndyCar points leader Will Power, who cycled to the top following his victory over Detroit last weekend, could not meet 15th from the ball. The IndyCar winner has never had a 13th achievement since 2004 by Alex Tagliani.
Simona de Silvestro, making her first start of the season, was 27th on campus and last modified in her first IndyCar road race since 2015. She and Tatiana Calderon record the women’s IndyCar match for the first time in the same race. the 2013 season finale.
Meanwhile Ross has been on a roll for the last three weeks.
He finished fifth in the Indianapolis 500 and was a runner on the Power last week against Detroit. Andretti Autosport also confirmed last week that he will drive McLaren at the end of his seventh season next year.
“I don’t think there is any revelation.” We don’t do anything else,” Rossi said. “Faults have been elevated, chaotic events, less worn out this morning, have been relatively under control.”
